UCNS Curriculum
UCNS uses a thematic approach to teaching/integrating three primary curricular resources: The Creative Curriculum for Preschool, Gospel Light & Scripture Bites resources, Handwriting Without Tears (Pre-K students only), and Zoo Phonics (Pre-K students only). We provide a wide range of hands-on activities that encourage children to experiment with science, math, language, reading, dramatic play, blocks, music and art. A central part of our preschool program is our monthly UCNS Character Development curriculum.
Our UCNS character development program is based upon monthly core values. Each teacher will read stories, facilitate discussions, model, role play, and affirm students as they "catch" them exhibiting these desired character attributes. We have chosen character traits that the Bible teaches us God wants to develop in all of His people. Each month’s character trait will be taught in a God-centered way as children hear between two and four Bible stories that affirm and model the monthly trait, as well as learn a short, age-appropriate Bible memory verse related to the core trait. Students will also learn to rejoice with one another as they practice making right choices in their classroom communities!
UCNS Character Development Curriculum
Developing a strong sense of community, and facilitating our students’ social, emotional and spiritual development have always been at the heart of our UCNS program. We strive to provide our preschoolers with the experiences, teaching, and affirmation that they need to enter school as responsible, respectful, caring and confident learners, and we believe that the character traits that we emphasize at UCNS will serve our students well throughout their lives. Our UCNS character development program is based upon monthly core values.
